![]() ![]() The pipes added a couiple of additional horsepowwer, but I must admit that it is hard to tell on my “butt dyno”. But when I reach my desired steady speed, it quiets down nicely, so it isn’t annoying for long hours in the saddle. At idle I get a little more rumble, and under strong acceleration, there’s a more satisfying growl. And since I”m not a loud pipe guy, it was perfect for me. I put Triumph aftermarket pipes on my America. So check back with Ken at the dealership. The bike is a sales hit, so aftermarket stuff should be appearing soon. Also aftermarket supplier, British Customs, has their Hogslayer pipes for the Storm, but not yet for the LT, which I also anticipate coming online soon. I believe Triumph will be developing pipes and other upgrades, but since the bike is so new, they haven’t done it so far. 16, he may have some news about performance upgrades for you. BUT, Ken Weinstein will be going to the Triumph Dealer Meeting this month, and when he returns on Oct. There are some for the Storm, which has the same engine, but not for the LT. I spoke to Ken Weinstein at Woodstock Triumph and he told me that as I write this, there is no aftermarket exhaust system or Stage 1 download available for the Thunderbird LT. Thanks for writing, and I’m glad you thought my review was consistent with your ownership experience. If you can comment on that I’d appreciate it.Thanks again for an informative review. I’d be curious to see how it sounds and how much more power there is with the Triumph aftermarket pipes and the stage 1 engine download. ![]() And the engine growls nicely when you accelerate. I usually like more sound with my exhaust, but I thought you made a good point about quieter pipes being easier on you when doing long trips. I’ve got over 5K on it, and it’s been a fantastic, long-touring bike. I just wanted to let you know I enjoyed your recent T-Bird LT review… and you conclusions are very much my experience with my new LT. All readers are encouraged to respond to the blog articles on this blog, OR by reaching me at. If anyone is interested in more power and sound, you won’t be disappointed with this easy fix.Īuthor’s Note: The following is a letter from a reader commenting on the Triumph Thunderbird LT review found on this blog. I’m very happy with the TORS, and with the bags off, the pipes give the LT a sporty cruiser look. Once I get to touring speed, I don’t notice them, which makes for quiet touring. Sound is very subjective, but for me the TORS give the bike a very nice rumble with a bass note. This easily gets the LT on par with the power of the Storm. As soon as I got on the bike I could feel a noticeable increase in power and acceleration. In case you wanted to let others know about this….I just installed the TORS on my Thunderbird LT and just got the Stage 1 download. You may remember you forwarded a note from someone who had a set of TORS and was willing to sell them to me. ![]()
